While I’ve always made things, I didn’t start making pottery until early 2021. In 2020, during the height of staying at home, I noticed a strong urge to learn how to throw pots on a wheel. How was I going to learn how to do this while everything was closed?! So, instead, I ordered an at home kit of clay and materials, and taught myself how to hand build pots. Then, as the world began to open up again, I discovered a beautiful community pottery studio right in my neighborhood. I got to take a wheel throwing class, finally! Now, I’m practicing throwing on the wheel, hand building at home, and generally delighting in making things out of clay.
