I love to gather information. I love to dive deeper, learning about topics and concepts using peer-reviewed, current research. And I love to take big ideas, in-depth investigations, and translate them into useful resources… articles, publications, reports, curricula, proposals.
My experience as a writer has taken me many different places. I started at a small company, creating SBIR products, writing everything from the proposal to the actual product. This let me run focus groups, work with real people, talk with experts, read research, and conduct evaluations. It also had me standing on street corners in SE Washington DC handing out pregnancy tests, working at a children’s hospital learning about cleft lip and palate, running around with kids who happened to have Tourette Syndrome. I’ve made videos, I’ve created websites, I’ve written online publications, I’ve created video games. I’ve written about hard topics, like when children with illness die. I’ve talked to families with children with autism. And I’ve created resources to help.
I know what it takes to make something worthwhile. To gather pieces of information and weave them together into something greater. I can take an idea and run with it. I can see a need and address it. I can go from start to finish.
I’d like to work with you. Together, we can create something spectacular.
I explore new ways to craft messages and materials to engage and inform audiences. I conceive, pitch, write, edit, and manage content creation and all its pieces from the beginning through the end.
Throughout my career, I have worked with many government contractors to find, conceptualize, write, research, and submit federal grants, such as SBIRs. I also have secret powers (research skills) that I use for good… for finding funding opportunities large and small.
I conduct stakeholder and audience research throughout content development—focus groups, interviews, expert reviews. I gather input and ideas from intended users, like families, children, teachers. I love to create and maintain dialogues between myself and all contributors and find this process adds depth to content creation.
